Some of my happy students
You’re friendly and encouraging without being pushy. I feel like if I can’t do an exercise now that that’s ok – I will get it eventually. You suggest different levels and again it’s ok if I don’t do the hardest one.
I like Catherine’s class because they are small groups and you don’t feel out of place.
Everyone is as good as they are and it doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable.
FAQs
How long are the sessions?
Each session is 50 mins and includes a warm up, and cool down.
What is Mat-based Pilates?
Mat-based Pilates is an exercise that focusses on strengthening and lengthening the muscles, working your core while also training your arms and legs.
How many Pilates sessions can I come to?
I would recommend once a week to start, but I also offer a twice-weekly membership if you wanted to take your Pilates practice a bit further.
Is Pilates suitable for everyone?
Mat-based Pilates can be modified for all ages, body types, or fitness level.
How many sessions do I get with a monthly subscription?
A monthly subscription is based on 4 weeks, giving you one or two sessions a week depending on the package you have chosen. If the month is a 5 week month, we may take a break or you may have a free session (this will be discussed on a monthly basis)
How are the sessions delivered?
The sessions are delivered online via Zoom and in person at various venues which can be found here.
What if I cannot make my usual session?
This isn’t a problem, let me know as soon as you know you cannot attend and we can look to see which other session is free that week for you to attend. If any of the other classes are not suitable, I can send you a recording.
How long am I tied into a membership?
You can book on a month by month basis, and each membership lasts 4 weeks. This gives you the flexibility to take a break one month should you need to.
Refunds and cancellations
There are no refunds offered if you are unwell or cannot attend a session for any reason. You will be welcome to attend any other session I’m running the same week or I can send you a recording to do in your own time. If you cancel your membership before your first class of the month, the following refund will be available:
4 or more days before – Full refund
3 days before – 75% refund
2 days before – 50% refund
1 day before – 25% refund
On the day – No refund
What should I wear/what equipment do I need?
Wear something comfortable that is easy to move in. We practice Pilates in socks or bare feet.
You will need a Pilates mat (which is thicker than a Yoga mat). You may also like to get yourself a resistance band, and a small Pilates ball. If you are attending an in person class, I have spare mats, bands and balls if you want to try Pilates before purchasing anything.
Will I need water?
Yes, it’s very important to stay hydrated throughout the class. I would also encourage you to drink lots of fluids before the class.
What time should I arrive to the class?
Please arrive 5 minutes before your session time either online or in person, this allows you to get settled into your space ready for the class to start on time.
Do the venues have parking?
Silver Road Community Centre has nearby on street parking with various spots that have 2 hour no return free parking. All other venues have dedicated free parking.
Do I need a Zoom account?
A Zoom account is not required if you are strictly joining Zoom meetings as a participant. As I will invite you to the session, you can join as a participant without creating an account.
I want to join your online class, what equipment do I need?
You will need a computer, tablet or smart phone with camera, a space big enough to stretch out your arms and legs, a mat or comfy rug, a resistance band and a ball or cushion.
Do I need to have my camera on during a Zoom class?
Ideally yes, this will ensure I can see that you are doing the exercises correctly and can give you guided teaching points. However, if you are not comfortable with the camera on during the class, you don’t have to have it on. I would encourage you to have the camera on at the beginning and end to say hello to the other participants.
